Self Direction

In order to succeed as an online student, taking responsibility for one’s own learning is important. Self-directed learning describes your ability to take initiative to define your learning needs, formulate your learning goals, and identify resources for your learning style. Being motivated to meet deadlines and complete tasks can increase your likelihood of success in the world of eLearning. Consider your ability to be a self-directed learner and answer the following questions:

  1. I am good at setting goals and deadlines for myself.
  2. Taking an online course or program will allow greater flexibility to meet my personal and/or professional obligations.
  3. I finish the projects I start.
  4. I do not quit just because things get difficult.
  5. I can keep myself on track and on time.
